First Community - 5K Run at 30

Casey Neistat an American YouTuber published the video 'Sisyphus and the Impossible Dream' on youtube 8th Feb 2024. The video was about him running a marathon and reflecting on his marathon journey over the past 17 years.

And it influenced me.

Now the question is—Why?

The answer: I’ve been in the worst shape of my life and still i am (Health & Fitness), while I post this, and i am 30!

That video made me pick up something again, something I badly want to change about myself. In my case, it was not looking after myself for all my youth. I’ve been a so-called workaholic… and to be honest, I still like being one, but i never cared about my health.

But, to start someplace, I chose something Casey mentioned—running.

Running was easy, right! Now i don’t run marathons, but I decided to started small. I began running short distances, and eventually started doing 5Ks every day. And the thing which i learned from running 5K daily, was when i run, and i'am physically exhausted, it's my brain that takes me forward and helps me to reach the finish line or beat my best timing. The Brain, not the Body!

So i decided to run a 5K Timed run at Mumbai Monsoon Marathon, happened in July 6th!

It was a terrific occasion for me as an introvert, a producer, and an unhealthy guy to do his first 5K timed community run. My BIB number was 5200, and I finished 87th overall and 35th in my category, with a time of 0:37:08. That was wonderful.

So here is the learning, start and participate and when you run you don't run to win, you run to finish. It not the podium (If you make it—great), but if you don't, you still get the deep sense of satisfaction. Now at the age of 30, i think test yourself, imporving yourself and only focusing on productivity is what i am looking at it, and i think running hopefull a full day not in one city but across globe will help me to be better then yesterday.

Like Casey said:

Fail. Try. Fail. Try Again. Fail. Try again, till you make it.
